--------------The English Lake District is in Cumbria in Northwest England and is Englands largest National Park. It is a World Heritage Site. The highest mountain is Scafell Pike and the deepest lake Wastwater. There are lovely mountains, valleys, coastline, towns, pretty villages, and the Lakes. Access is by train and bus, the nearest airport is Manchester. Think Lakes and you think Poets and Artists,William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, and John Ruskin to mention a few. Wordswoths grave is in Grasmere. -----I stayed in Kendal at the County Hotel near the rail station. I travelled around the Lake District by bus.----- Windermere town which gives its name to the large lake is half a mile away from the lake. At Bowness it is busy with tourists, here boat trips can be taken, also here are the friendly swans. At Windermere rail station front, buses leave for many places.--------------------------------
